  • Lionel Lemay

    Executive Vice President, Structures and Sustainability, NRMCA - USA

    Mr. Lemay is Executive Vice President, Structures, and Sustainability for the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA). He leads a team of professionals to offer building owners and designers cost-effective, durable and sustainable concrete building solutions through communications, education, research, design assistance and codes and standards advocacy. He has written over 50 articles on concrete design and construction and is the co-author of three textbooks. Although based in the United States, he has presented all over the world with a particular emphasis in the Middle East. Mr. Lemay is a Registered Professional Engineer and Structural Engineer in the State of Illinois in the United States. He is also a LEED Accredited Professional. He is an active member of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Mr. Lemay holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in civil engineering and applied mechanics from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

  • Colin Lobo

    Executive Vice President, Engineering Division, NRMCA - USA

    Colin Lobo is the Executive Vice President, Engineering Division, for the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA). He represents the ready mixed industry on committees that establish standards for the industry. He is a member of ACI 318 (Building Code), ACI 301 (Specifications), ACI 329 (Performance Specifications, ASTM C94 (Specification for ready mixed concrete) and several others. Colin Lobo manages NRMCA technical education and certification programs, including the plant certification program. He is involved in NRMCA research programs. He is the author of several papers and books including the User’s Guide to ASTM C94. He is a fellow of ACI and ASTM and is the recipient of numerous ACI, ASTM and NRMCA awards. Colin Lobo is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Maryland. He holds a Ph.D. from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, USA.

  • Arif Husain Al Marzooqi

    Products Conformity Assessment Section Manager Dubai Central Lab Department- Dubai Municipality

    Mr. Arif Husain Al Marzooqi was appointed as Head of Products Conformity Assessment Section in Dubai Central Lab Department (DCLD) of Dubai Municipality effective December 6th, 2015.

    Graduated from UAE University with Bachelor Degree of Science Major Geology in the year 2000. He joined the Municipality in 2000 as a Field Studies Researcher Assistant, and was later promoted to the post of Acting Head of Research and Standardization Management Office. He was later appointed as Head of Research and Standardization Management Office in which he was looked after the Standards development for testing and products specification for conformity assessment.

    He was promoted in 2013 to the post of Head of Inspection and Certification Section, and recently his post was changed to be Products Conformity Assessment Section Manager. Mr. Arif chaired a number of committees in Dubai Municipality such as the Technical Approval Committee, Certification Technical Committee, Development of Dubai Soil Profile Mapping Committee, Concrete Sustainability Team and participated as active member in a lot of other committees such as Strategic Transformation Management Team of DCLD, Establishing International Center for Halal Products Accreditation and Certification Team, Certification Advisory Committee, DCL Internal Auditor Team and DCL Awards and Innovations Team. He was also instrumental in winning some more than 15 local, regional and international awards for DCL and Dubai Municipality, and have a big role in making DCL/Dubai Municipality Conformity Mark available and existing in more than 34 countries around the world and development of more than 80 standards for testing and products specification.

    Dr. Carsten Rieger is a civil engineer with Phd in concrete technology. He has been working with Sika for 8 years. He is located in Zürich, Switzerland, where his current position is Market Development Manager Concrete, Sika Services AG, Zürich, Switzerland

  • Stefan van Uffelen

    Founder and owner of Meerwonen, cooperative housing fund, The Netherlands

    Making sustainability practical and helping the industry forward with making products more sustainable is his passion. This passion has been made practical in a number of projects: Concrete Sustainability Council (WBCSD)

    Since February 2014 Stefan is the coordinator of the CSC with the aim to develop a worldwide responsible sourcing scheme for the concrete sector. This project is supported by European, North- and South American cement and concrete associations and companies. The certification system is launched January 1st 2017 and a total of 120 concrete plants have been certified. The CSC has regional system operators active in Turkey, Latin America, Italy, Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands.
    MVO Nederland (CSR Netherlands)
    Beside the work for the WBCSD he is also the program manager of the Dutch Concrete Network. This network of 30 concrete producers, contractors and the Dutch government does projects and pilots to bring sustainable solutions to the market. This network has signed a green deal with the government to lower carbon emissions of concrete by 30% in 2020.

    As a director of the DGBC, he developed a sustainable building rating system for Dutch real estate: BREEAM NL.

    Meerwonen (www.meerwonen.com)
    In 2016, he started the social housing fund Meerwonen as a developer and investor. The first development is the Diamondiaal project in Almere, The Netherlands. He developed a two acre project with three housing blocks and a community building. Together with a local foundation InspiratieInc, he initiated a housing cooperation, focussed on former refugees from 25 different countries.

  • Ihab Bassiouni

    Principal Building Studies Engineer Building Department - Dubai Municipality

    Ihab has a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from Beirut Arab University and holds a diploma in Advanced Concrete Technology (ACT) from the Institute of Concrete Technology (ICT), United Kingdom. Ihab is MICT (Corporate Member of Institute of Concrete Technology, UK) and NRMCA Certified Concrete Professional (CCPf). Ihab is NRMCA approved Inspecting Engineer, trainer and examiner in the Middle East. Ihab has an extensive experience of more than 15 years in Concrete Construction Industry.

  • Sarah Zgheib

    Business Development Manager - Grey Matters

    Sarah holds Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering from Lebanese American University in Lebanon. She is Certified Concrete Professional Middle East (CCPfME) from NRMCA under both Concrete Sustainability and Concrete Technology tracks and NRMCA Approved Inspecting Engineer for Ready Mixed Concrete Plants and Trucks. She is a Certified LEED Green Associate from USGBC. She holds a Master Certificate in Business and Project Management from the World of Concrete-USA.
    She has conducted several inspections for the NRMCA Plant and Truck Certification and audits on the Quality Certifications from NRMCA in UAE and the region. She has also conducted internal audits on the company’s Quality Management System for ISO 9001 and ISO 17020. She has trained many technicians on Fresh Concrete Field Testing.
    She has 4 years of experience in the concrete industry, and recently has been intensively involved in developing LCAs and EPDs. She is also responsible for marketing and organizing the International Concrete Conferences/Forums in UAE. Sarah is also responsible for marketing the NRMCA training programs for different levels in the concrete industry.

  • Osama Hamad

    General Manager - Emirates Beton Ready Mix

    For his 23 years well experience to concrete mix industry, he is known for his executive leadership and guidance for all departments: Production, Operations, Technical, Maintenance, Sales, and other departments over several manufacturing plants. He is responsible for manufacturing activities, effective coordination, synchronization and value chain management of all departments.

    Osama Hamad is also responsible of ensuring effective operation management, managing major cost drivers, stock availability, macro-update on production planning, assessment of work processes, people and technology.

    He ensures alignment of people, process and technology and consistent working towards its synchronization and optimization for effective and profitable working of the company. Responsible also in establishing and guiding the whole team, institute appropriate systems for project execution and ensuring that the team decisions have the tools and information they need to make timely and profitable decision.
    Osama Hamad closely monitored the projects and review and approve changes affecting the accuracy, validity and appropriate supporting documentation and authorization. He ensures control procedures and reporting are performed on a timely basis. HE is responsible for budgeting and credit control, job description, etc. to develop the team.

    Osama Hamad possesses special skills that made him soar high in ready mix concrete field. He possesses good administrative, public relations and management skills to enhance overall operations and be able to delegate responsibility, organize each department and possesses an ability to understand the work of each department.

  • Jonas Vandeven

    Division Lead BESIX Greenprint Division

    Jonas Vandeven is civil engineer architect graduated from the University of Ghent, Belgium. He also has a master’s degree in General Management from the Vlerick Business School. Together with a strong internal team, he started the 3D concrete printing division of the BESIX Group. He is working with BESIX for 5 years of which 3 in the Middle East. Currently based in Dubai he is the GREENPRINT division lead, in charge of 3D business development, tenders, R&D programs and operations.
